2015 Ford Transit - Part 1 (Click here for part 2)

The 2015 Ford Transit is a game changer for the Canadian market place, which until recently lacked a modern full-size van from a domestic automaker, save for the Dodge ProMaster, which is really nothing but a Fiat Ducato in drag.
You will be hard pressed to find one of these on the road, as although they are on sale, there is a backlog of orders and shipping them out west has had its share of delays.
With one of the few Transit's on Calgary roads, my week with this new beast will put it to the test. This media unit is equipped with the optional inline 5 cylinder, 3.2 Litre Diesel engine, which is a costly option but promises fuel efficiency. Rated at 185 horsepower, this engine has a boatload of low end torque, 350 lb ft in total.
First impressions thus far? Very good build quality, tight as drum compared to the old E-series, good turning radius, and lot's of cargo space!
This is the first all new full-size Ford van since the E-series was revised for the 1992 model year, and even that revision was based on a design from the 1970's! Stay tuned for two more updates on my adventures with the Transit!
